Sweden: Struve’s Geodetic Arc Souvenir Sheet
In May, 2011 Swedish Post issued a souvenir sheet of two triangular 12 Kr stamps depicting the full length of the arc from Norway to the Black Sea. The lower stamp has an image of Struve, while the upper stamp shows a theodolite. An image of the northern most marker, in Hammerfest Norway, is shown in the upper right corner of the sheet. In the lower right corner of the sheet, a structure which appears to be the Tartu Observatory, the first point on the arc, is visible. Comments are closed. |
