Fellow CartoPhilatelic Society member Bob Lamb has been named the 2016 American Topical Association’s Distinguished Topical Philatelist! The Distinguished Topical Philatelist is a “ very special honor bestowed upon a person who has made significant contributions to topical philately and the ATA in particular.”

Bob has been active in the American Topical Association (ATA) and other philatelic endeavors including serving as the Executive Director of the American Philatelic Society (APS) and is currently a Director of the ATA. His articles are printed monthly in the APS – American Philatelist. Bob is present at almost all APS and ATA shows and is accessible and gracious in sharing his vast knowledge of philately. More information on Bob’s award is contained in the May-June 2016 (v67 #3) issue of Topical Time.

6th Meeting of the CartoPhilatelic Society

World Stamp Show 2016 in NYCAs announced earlier, The CartoPhilatelic Society will be attending the World Stamp Show 2016 being held in the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, May 28 through June 4, 2016.   This is a very major event and we are excited about our participation. We will be having a table in the Society’s area.  Close to 60 other philatelic Societies will be represented during the show. We plan to staff the table during the event to promote the Society and attract new members and will be asking for volunteers to help.

On May 29th the 6th Meeting of the CartoPhilatelic Society will be held from 10:30 am until 12:00pm  in Room 1E11.  A tentative agenda for the meeting is shown below.

  • “Maps on Stamps” a PowerPoint presentation by Miklos Pinther on collecting miniature maps (40 min.)
  • “Don’t Lick the Stamp” an illustrative lecture by Martin Oakes on organizing and writing up a collection (15 min.)
  • “CPS Web Site and Digital Projects Update” by Reese Plews (15 min.)

2015-08-24: Updated the Maps on Stamps Checklist page with correct address and email information.
2015-08-22: All of the new issue posts from the “New Issues Blog” have been moved to this site. After a while the “New Issues Blog” will be turned off and new issue posts will always reside on the main site.
2015-08-19: Some of the plugins that our site uses have compatibility issues with the new WordPress 4.3 update.  If you run into some problems with the site, please use the contact form or email the web admin. Thank you.

New Treasurer for the CartoPhilatelic Society

Our dedicated treasurer for the past five years, and long time CartoPhilatelic Society member, Ed Vallery has retired from his position. Fellow member and Representative at Large Phil Coop will be taking over as Society Treasurer. Over the years Ed’s diligence in reaching out to members regarding their dues payments has been very beneficial to the continued strength of our Society. An avid golfer, Ed will will have more time now to spend with his family and concentrate on golf and cartophilately. Thank you for your service to the Society Ed and we look forward to hearing from you as a continuing member. We extend our thanks also to Phil for taking over the reigns in this new position.

TNCP Archive Updates

The Member’s Only TNCP Archive has been updated with the last three issues. The Table of Contents listings have also been updated.  The TNCP Archive is available to current members. Contact the Editor or web admin if you have forgotten the login credentials. [Journal Nos. 47 and  No. 48 were dispatched promptly in early October and December.
