On July 25, 2011 PostNL plans to issue three new sheets to commemorate historic relations between the Netherlands and South Africa. The sheets contain six, 1 wereld (approx. 95c) denominated stamps of the same design. On each of the sheets, the stamps are placed differently. On each sheet, the margin designs are also different. Maps related to South Africa are present in the lower margins of two of the sheets. The sheet on the left shows an old map of Capetown overlaid with the shape of the African continent. The sheet on the right depicts an image, cut in the shape of South Africa, of a street crossing sign with instructions in English and Afrikaans, which is very similar to Dutch. On all three of the sheets a small map of the Netherlands is visible on the top margin. [ Thanks to CPS Vice-President Mark Honig for this information! –web admin]
