The New CartoPhilatelist is the premier publication for worldwide collectors of maps on stamps. It is published in English and is a benefit of membership available only to Society members, recognized philatelic libraries and commercial stamp periodicals.
The Society’s award-winning quarterly journal is published in color and printed on high-quality paper using MagCloud, a print on demand service. After printing, the journal is mailed flat, in a protective envelope, directly from MagCloud to each member with a hardcopy subscription.
Members with a digital subscription receive an email with a link to download an Adobe PDF file for the current issue. Hardcopy subscribers may also download digital versions of each journal issue through the “Members Only Journal Archive” described below.
Each issue of the Journal contains one or more illustrated feature articles pertinent to maps on stamps, new issue listings and illustrations, and brief news about Society matters and fellow members. The editor makes every effort to eliminate needless filler produced only for the sake of adding pages.
Submissions
Both members and non-members are encouraged to submit articles for publication. Authors are reimbursed for reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred in the production and submission of the article.
Publication dates for our journal are Jan 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and Oct 1st. Material for publication must be received by the 15th of the preceding month.
Before sending your submission, please have a look at the “TNCP Style Sheet – Instructions to Authors” document . This will answer a lot of questions you may have about preparing your article. After reading it, if you have any more questions, please contact TNCP Editor David Wolfersberger for additional information on submissions.
Members Only Journal Archive
In October 2009, a secure, members only web page was initiated for the download of digital editions of The New CartoPhilatelist Journals. A number of members have expressed a desire to obtain back issues. The archive allows current members password protected access to all of the digital copies from No 1 through the current issue.
In October 2021, both the TNCP and CP members only web pages were moved to the new CPS Resource Centre.
Latest Issue in the Members Only Archive: TNCP No. 82, July 2023
Hardcopy back issues are still available for US$ 4.00 per issue, plus shipping costs.
Please remember that only current members of the Society may access the PDF back issues archive. If you have questions about your membership status or would like to purchase hardcopy back issues, please contact the Society Treasurer.

TNCP 36 Dispatched to Members
The first issue of 2012 begins with a detailed article about New Zealand pre-decimal map stamps, by resident NZ member Brian Marshall. Brian examines the history and provides some unique background information about the very popular early map issues from New Zealand. Next up, Roger Kirby describes a unique find with a personal connection this article about the beautiful map stamps commemorating Admiral Byrd’s second expedition to Antarctica. Be sure to check out the small note on page 3 mentioning a “stamp will,” a topic which should get more discussion. In late 2011 we learned of the sad news about the passing of two members of the Society, Dr. Martin Ira Glassner (d.2010) and Dr. Jack Child (d.2011). The next article in the issue is submitted from Peter Bleekrode in the Netherlands and describes the Zuider Zee and how that history is depicted on the very unique M.C. Escher designed Netherlands scB81. Society President David Wolfersberger has an update to his Maps and Trains articles with information about related stamps in a special category. The next article is the 3rd part of an article that first appeared in issue 34, and is a reprint of a richly illustrated French article on the History of Cartography as depicted in stamps, submitted by Maurice Touchette of Canada, with translation by Pierre Moise. Tom Tarabicos tells us about Greek history through cartophilately, in an article on page 10. Next, member Ang Kiang Kee of Singapore provides details on the massive South to North Water Diversion Project underway in China, and depicted in a souvenir sheet from China. The issues is rounded out with Society News, checklist updates and some sharp looking new issues.
